Prefabricated bathroom pods are despatched from RB Farquhar’s manufacturing plant in Chomutov, in the Czech Republic, on curtain-sided articulated road trailers. A delivery schedule is agreed in advance to suit site access and off-loading facilities.
Pods can be off-loaded either by fork-lift or by site crane, generally at a rate of about six pods per hour. With forklift off-loading, it is important that the forklift toes project beyond the perimeter of the pod by at least 200mm to ensure possible damage to intermediate floor joists.
When crane-offloading has been specified, RB Farquhar supplies all necessary lifting apparatus, including lift shoes which are temporarily locked on to the base of the pod.
When the pod has been off-loaded, it is important to set it down on suitable temporary supports to compensate for any uneven surface which could distort and damage the frame. These supports must be placed at appropriate shimming points to ensure the dead load of the pod is transmitted only to the structural outer frame.
